Gratitude
Have you stopped lately to hear the swaying palm trees? Gaze at the deep blue sky? Feel the warmth of the bright sunshine? Hear the calming bellow of an alligator near your golf ball? All of these are forms of gratitude! Some may be better than others.
The dictionary definition of gratitude is “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”
Gratitude is important to practice daily and to make the habit of. Congratulate yourself after completing that workout. Fist bump the person next to you in class and tell them how awesome they did. Pause on the tee box or on the green, take a deep breath, and look around. Or, catch a sunrise on the WellFit patio. There is no wrong way to appreciate the finer and often overlooked things in life.
Tony Robbins says, “When you are grateful, fear disappears, and abundance appears. Once we appreciate everything we have, the law of attraction will bring even more abundance to us.”
Daily gratitude makes us happier and more fulfilled. It makes us better partners. Better bosses and coworkers and better workout buddies.
Nightly my wife and I take our son on a bike ride. Our path changes, but the gratitude doesn’t. The long work hours and frustrations of being understaffed quickly disappear on those rides. All of a sudden, that long day shows why it was worth it. It gave us the opportunity to ride together, each night, in paradise.
I leave you with this:
Choose gratitude- focus on positives, not fears or negatives. You have a choice.
Be mindful- focus your full attention on the sights, and sounds, and smells around you. Live in the now.
Let go- the past is over. Learn and move on.
Take action- accepting appreciation is as important as giving it. Do it today. Do it NOW. |
