Fit Tip of the Week: |
|
For 30 minutes a day, do something. Do not specialize in one area. I recommend doing the following 2-3 times per week, EACH:
- BUILD – strength train with barbells and dumbells, kettlebells, bootcamps
- PLAY – sports, hike, bike, playground, swim
- MOVE – walk, run, dance, yoga, pilates, martial arts

Tennis Fitness: |
|
The type of stretching you do before and after you play are totally different. I can hear it now… “but I don’t stretch at all!” Dynamic stretching before playing and static stretching after not only enhances performance but helps keep you on the court.

Golf Fitness: |
|
The BEST hip exercise you need to do this summer (if able to perform correctly and safely)!
What: |
Single-Leg RDL |
Why: |
While playing golf, our hips need all the mobility, stability, and strength they can get. The single-leg RDL helps us build up the muscles around our hips, so we are able to hinge from our hips (not low back) in our golf posture, and build up necessary stability to avoid sway and slide in your swing. |
Bonus: |
This exercise increases pelvic control and core |
How: |
- Soften your standing leg
- Weight in your heel
- Hinge from your hips while pushing the non-standing leg back toward the wall behind you
- Squeeze your hamstring and glute on the way back up

Tip: |
Always point both hip bones to the ground! |

- Trust Yourself – Follow your vision for what YOU want to do.
- Break Some Rules – Not the law, just the rules. Think outside the box.
- Don’t Be Afraid To Fail – You have to take risks and not be afraid to fail and get back up.
- Ignore The Naysayers – Don’t listen to them. Nothing is impossible.
- Work Like Hell – “I don’t have enough time to work out. That’s crazy to me. You have 24 hours in a day. Sleep six hours, and you have 18 hours left to do your job. You’re telling me you can’t work out in that time?”
- Give Something Back – We are not where we are today without any help. We all get help along the way. “Do something for your community, your state, your country. Give something back.”
