"Scholastically outstanding, a school leader, and stellar athlete," Rylee will graduate from Sarasota High School with an associate's degree and plans to attend Wake Forest University to major in International Studies. Reilly ultimately strives for a career in foreign service that will combine economics, politics, and the hard sciences to pursue her dream of becoming a member of the U.S. Department of State. She writes, "Often, international affairs are assessed through a dark tunnel of pain, suffering, poverty, and illness; however, I hope to change the narrative and instead assess international affairs as a bright horizon of opportunity to serve others…" One of her teachers says, "What impresses me most about Rylee is her strong moral compass… Whether she is advocating for local political action to conserve our environment or mentoring teens at the Social Competency Center of Sarasota, Rylee will do whatever she can to help others. She is a leader both inside and outside the classroom." |
